This just in from the CW, pilot pickups and remaining renewal decisions have been made. There’s a couple surprises here but most were to be expected.
First, The 100 has been renewed! Yes, one of our featured TVFTROU shows will be back! It’s been doing very strong in it’s midseason run and has gained quite a following online, so while not a surprise the announcement still makes us very happy. Also renewed is Hart of Dixie, which has probably found a solid spot in the Friday night lineup. The CW has chosen to renew one other show, and this is the shocker. Beauty and The Beast will be back. Yes, the lowest rated show on the network. There are probably various reasons for this (loyal fan base, international popularity, balancing the CBS Studios to WB properties), but it will be back. Number of episodes is unknown at this time.
For you fans of The Tomorrow People, Star Crossed, and The Carrie Diaries, my deepest condolences. Your shows have been cancelled.
But that’s just one half of the big news! The other half, the CW pilot pickups have been announced for the 2014-2015 season. Four out of the six pilots have made it to series. Not shocking at all, The Flash has made the cut. Time for you all to start debating whether it’ll make it’s debut on Monday or Wednesday. Rob Thomas’ iZombie was ordered to series as well (I peg that going after The Vampire Diaries). The other two shows ordered were The Messengers and Jane The Virgin.
For those clinging to hope that the Supernatural spinoff Bloodlines would get a series order, I’m sad to report it will not be going forward. We have seen the last of the monster mob in Chicago. Identity also didn’t get an order, probably because the premise was just not a great fit for this network.
That just leaves time to debate the schedule! The CW upfront presentation is one week from today, on May 15th. Care to share your predictions now? I’ll share mine in the comments just as soon as I’ve had a chance to mull it over.
