I gotta admit, I’m giving Julie Plec and Kevin Williamson some huge credit here.  I absolutely love the strategy of doing the intense climax of the showdown with Klaus two episodes before the finale and then closing out with something supposedly weepy and dramatic.  Oh, and deadly.  There’s gotta be death!  And it only fits that in season two, the dramatic spotlight falls on Damon. If his demise from werewolf bite is every bit as gut wrenching as Rose’s, then you all better have stocked up on tissues.

Here’s the official CW description:

THE BOND BETWEEN BROTHERS – While Mystic Falls presents a screening of "Gone with The Wind" in the town square, Damon’s (Ian Somerhalder) memories of Katherine (Nina Dobrev) in 1864 mix with the reality of Elena (Nina Dobrev) in the present day. Stefan (Paul Wesley) pays a terrible personal price for his attempt to prevent a tragedy, and Sheriff Forbes (Marguerite MacIntyre) makes a deadly mistake while trying to keep everyone safe. More than one life hangs in the balance as the consequences of the sacrifice ritual play out to a horrifying conclusion. Steven R. McQueen, Katerina Graham, Candice Accola and Matt Davis also star. John Behring directed the episode written by Turi Meyer & Al Septien & Michael Narducci.

The guys from "Smallville" are writing for "The Vampire Diaries" now?  Okay, but didn’t they write the first part of the "Smallville" finale too?  I better fact check that one.

Here’s some preview photos, which say absolutely nothing, except the love triangle seems back.

Okay everyone, enjoy the finale!  Even come back here afterward and give us a small "loved it or hated it".  Or a large one too. We aren’t picky.
