Shortly before this interview, at the Person of Interest panel, it was announced that Amy Acker, who plays Root on the show, was officially upped to series regular! Given her amazing perfomances in season one and two, the promotion is really no surprise and very well earned.
Amy got a chance in the press room to talk about this new promotion, and how lucky she is that the writers have created such a complex, layered, and morally ambigious character. Root has certainly struck a chord with the machine, who has now given her access to its power. She also proved in this interview she’s nothing like her character. She’s sweet, not very proficient with technology, and just a joy to talk with in general.
There’s no big season three spoilers here, but there are some pretty interesting insights into what makes Root the way she is.
