I’m on my way to C2E2 in Chicago, the annual comic and pop culture gathering in which midwestern dorks rule! So, in a fit of good timing, what should Warner Brothers send my way today? Let’s just say while millions of fan girls are probably pondering this bizarre act against fashion, the fan boys are prying their jaws up from the floor. Behold, your new Wonder Woman!
Personally, I’m disappointed the red boots are gone. Blue is so…just no. I’m holding judgement for now on the blue pleather pants, but the hubby personally liked the briefs covered with stars better. This isn’t your Lynda Carter Wonder Woman, that’s for sure!
Here’s the pertinent details of NBC’s Wonder Woman reboot:
Adrianne Palicki stars as the title character in the new NBC pilot “Wonder Woman,” from executive producer David E. Kelley (“Boston Legal,” “Ally McBeal,” NBC’s “Harry’s Law”). The pilot was written by Kelley, who also serves as executive producer with Bill D’Elia (“Boston Legal,” “The Practice,” NBC’s “Harry’s Law”). Jeffrey Reiner (“The Event”) is directing. Based upon DC Comics characters, “Wonder Woman” is from David E. Kelley Productions and Warner Bros. Television. © 2011 NBC/Warner Bros. Entertainment Inc. All Rights Reserved. Please tell Warner Brothers that the costume is TOO shiny! It makes poor Adrianne look like she stepped out of some campy movie. Tell them to away like 99% of the shine. Also, her parts look too plastic-like and very very tacky.
I like her pants: they make much more sense than the diaper-like undies for the previous Wonder Woman. At least they offer some protection though why they aren’t any thicker, confuses me.
Her breasts though, look unfortunately large. 😛 That breastplate needs to cover more of her chest and imho, I think part of her arms should be covered for tactical advantages as well. She should actually wear some shoulder-pads with metal-like plates or something. And she should wear some knee-pads unless she’s really fast and very strong and heavily resistant to physical pain.
I think whoever thought up of her image was trying very hard to appeal towards the male fans. However, it somewhat backfired ‘cos it seems people want her to look more demure and with a bit more self-respect. Though it befuddles me since a lot of women I know, don’t mind being a bit scantily-clad and looking hot + sexy. It just depends on what they’re trying to convey and what the situation is. Also, I assume the backlash is also ‘cos of the makeup since many male fans obviously want a woman to look more uhm… gentle or something and I’ve read comments comparing Adrianne with hookers. Kind of funny since a lot of men watch porn where the women are just as heavily made-up anyways. 🙂
Not a big fan of the color red, actually.
