Part Two of the Enemies of the State webisodes went live last week.  No Monroe, so I had a total sadface going on.  The scene occurred about the same time frame as Part One, eleven years after the blackout, and Neville is out trying to find the people Miles worked with to try to overthrow Monroe.

The scene was about a minute shorter and took place in a whorehouse…Which I found not entirely dissimilar to Ben Horn’s “One Eyed Jack’s” in Twin Peaks. Neville, acting like a militia officer looking for a little bit of fun (in a very incredibly dry, stoic way), questions the Madam of the house.  Or at least the woman known for being the “eyes and ears” of the house.  She claims not to have any idea who Miles is at first, but we all know Neville’s insurance adjuster skills at figuring out who is lying.

What Neville does glean from the madam is incredibly surprising, especially considering that stupid ad City TV made for Revolution putting the word for Monroe as “duplicity”. After watching this, Miles seems more and more like the duplicitous one…

It actually appears that Miles was meeting with people secretly.  Whether it was about Bass is so far unclear, but it does appear that is what is being implied. If Miles actually was plotting against his best friend, I just can’t even.  I know they wanted to make Miles a dark hero, and Kripke has said that if the revolution started five years earlier than it did, that Miles would be the big bad, and that we would find out things about Miles that would make us want to throw up…but…wow…

With Neville, I would have to say that we just don’t really know what’s going on in his head.  The most believable lies are the ones that run very close to the truth, so how much of Neville’s speech was just lip service to get the madam to talk, and how much of it is actually true?  Does he have his sights on Monroe’s job? I would definitely say that Julia does for him…Has he just been trying to ingratiate himself to Monroe?

As a proud Monroe Gal (basshole), I hate this whole Bass without anyone to trust, or help him, or love him thing going on right now.  Miles created this whole military complex and then left Bass holding the bag? And why does Miles get all the women?  Well, not here, apparently he was only using the whorehouse’s back room for these nebulous “meetings”, not for the girls.  But the information coming out about the rest of the season makes it sound like something was in fact up with Miles and Rachel.  We also know we meet Miles’ first love (and someone Bass was obsessed with) later this season…WHAT’S WITH THIS GUY?  Does Miles taste like Red Moscato?  I just don’t even know…

So I’m hoping we get to see some Bass next time!  Giancarlo is a great actor, but Neville himself is a bit dry and unexciting.  The scene was cool for finding out a little bit more about what was going on with Miles (well, sort of anyway), but in my opinion nowhere near as good as the first part for content…

Let me know what you thought of the webisode!

On a side note, I’ve been thinking maybe a little bit too much about this and seeing some parallels with Miles and Angel (Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel) and Monroe and Spike (or at least I’m hoping where this goes) So I’m going to be working on a little ditty about that to share soon while we wait for the 25th and the new episode.

And if you need to watch/rewatch:
