Person of Interest
moves to Tuesdays.  I’m cool with it!

I’m not worried.  And if I may be so bold:  You shouldn’t be either.   I mean, let’s face it; are you all going to stop watching PoI simply because it is now on a new night and an hour later?  ……. Nope, didn’t think so.

I know; 10:00 p.m. isn’t a big bonanza for the 18-49 demo.  Does any show on any network do well in that demo at that time?  Nope.  Sure, Revolution started big; however, did you see where it landed?  Granted it does have a 2.68 for an average, so not too bad; however the trend is not in its favor.  Scandal (on ABC) is the only show that’s actually grown in that demo at that time; even so, its average for the season is only a 2.46.  Castle rings in nicely at a 2.04 average, Hawaii Five-0 at a 2.16, CSI at a 2.31.  Most of the rest of the shows eek out an occasional 2.—something.  DVR numbers help.

UPDATED WITH FULL PRESS RELEASE:  If you can hear that primal screaming in the distance, that's me just after seeing this CW schedule this morning.  WHAT THE HELL?  I got to admit, every bit of intel I got about The CW schedule was wrong.  I wonder if they shook things up last minute, after the other nets announced.

There goes my epic Wednesdays.  Arrow and Supernatural were perfect together!  Supernatural has never been a great tent pole for a new show.  The viewership is too built in.  But since Supernatural now moves to Tuesdays with The Originals, that's coming with a built in audience as well.  But still, do you realize just how crowded and busy my Tuesdays got???  Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D on ABC at 8 pm, Supernatural on The CW at 9 pm, and Person of Interest on CBS at 10pm?  Then I'll also have The Originals on my DVR.  Ugh.

NikitaStar Crossed (aka formerly Oxygen), and The 100 are missing from this schedule.  Consider those midseason.  The rumors were true, Nikita is only getting a six episode final run.  It's a shame they couldn't have given that show a better sendoff.

Here's the mind boggling schedule.  New shows are in caps.

Well, color me wrong about shaking up a schedule that already works.  We all know that Tuesdays at 10pm are a sore spot for CBS.  They can't seem to get anything to follow the NCIS's very well.  So, why not take a reliable performer from a super tough slot of Thursdays at 9pm and move it to that very troubled Tuesday at 10pm slot.  It'll work, right?  I said RIGHT??

I don't know, I do not like the idea of Person of Interest, a sharp, refreshing, mind blowingly creative show being saddled with the NCIS franchise.  The only consolation is they will retain their big lead in, but I'm not of a fan of the show going to a 10pm slot.  It was doing so well at 9pm!  10pm is my catching up on the DVR time guys.

I did peg either The Mentalist or Hawaii Five-0 going to Fridays.  I picked The Mentalist in my fantasy schedule, but that was only by coin toss.  I'm also very, very disappointed that Intelligence is being held to midseason.  I can't be as disappointed as you Mike & Molly fans though.  It seems weird that show would be held to midseason as well.  It's a reliable performer!  Anyway, here's the schedule.  I got to say, it's not sitting right with me.

New shows are in capitals, except NCIS, because you know that's not new.

ABC's schedule is now out and what do you know, this network went and did something right!  They eliminated a bloated hour of Dancing With The Stars on Tuesday to make room for the most awesome show on television this year, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.  Dancing and results will all be done in one two hour block on Mondays for DWTS.  As a matter of fact, ABC went really bold by airing all new shows on Tuesdays.  I finally have a night where I'll be watching this network!

Overall this is a solid schedule, except I think Once Upon A Time in Wonderland is mismatched with Grey's Anatomy and Scandal.  Thursdays at 8pm is a problem hour for ABC and I think that'll continue. I was also hoping that Resurrection would have made the fall schedule, but it's midseason.  Other than that, well done ABC.

New shows are in all caps.

CBS.  First place, safe, boring, predictable CBS.  I can’t imagine that a number one network is going to shake the boat too much.  They certainly didn’t pick up any pilots that strayed too drastically from their formula.  However, CBS is finally venturing into single camera comedy.  They’ve picked up two in Crazy Ones and We Are Men.  The question is, where do you put them?

The answer is Thursday at 9pm, or Friday at 8pm.  Sunday at 8pm is off limits due to football overruns.  Survivor is still strong enough to hold onto the Wednesday at 8pm slot.  Considering I see the new show Intelligence to be a perfect companion to Person of Interest, I’m figuring a new comedy block on Friday at 8pm can’t hurt.  CBS does well with the live watching older crowd and Robin Williams is a huge draw.

Here’s the scorecard:

FOX revealed it's Fall schedule today in a pre-upfronts early morning conference call (I've never understood why they don't wait a few hours until the presentation).  I can never get excited about a FOX schedule.  Maybe because too much reality takes the fewer slots they have compared to the other nets (minus The CW).  But hey, I got a few things right from my fantasy schedule.  Bones is going to Fridays, in late fall anyway.  I also nailed Wednesdays and Thursdays, which isn't much of a stretch since they didn't change from last season.

The curious choice to me is Tuesdays.  Why would you do a guys oriented comedy block from 8 to 9 and a girls oriented comedy block from 9 to 10.  Are they trying to snare couples for the whole evening?  Ah well, that's what happens when you're a network with a tight schedule.  The price of success.  At least Mondays got interesting.  I might actually watch!

There was one other thing mentioned in the conference call, American Idol is going through a retooling.  Again.  Because the one from last year, and the year before, and the year before...let's say they aren't working.  I'm not exactly sure what FOX can do to breathe life into that franchise.  It is just too old and tired.  If you notice, even The Voice isn't producing new singing superstars.  But that's only 19 Entertainment's goal, not FOX's.  Given the oversaturation of singing talent shows, I don't see the big ratings coming back.

Also, 24 is coming back!  It's actually going to be special engagement limited run during the summer, and Jack Bauer is only going to have to experience a really bad half day.  Unless each of the 12 episodes represents two hours.  Stay tuned for that.  Mark your calendars for one year from now, May, 2014.

I'm pretty impressed I even came up with a schedule for ABC, considering I do not watch one show on this network.  I know that's changing this year with Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D, so I figured I better get to know this network finally.  I also don't watch network TV on Sundays, so perhaps ABC will be changing that for me as well.  If my predictions are right anyway.

There seems to be a pattern with this network, just like with NBC, CBS and FOX.  More shows than slots.  Guessing which shows will be used for midseason/cancelled show filler and what will make the fall schedule is anyone's guess, so consider these predictions to be more of a wish list than actual guessing with forethought.

Here’s the scorecard:

After an episode that had me singing in spite of my issues with it, last Monday’s episode “The Love Boat” again made me feel the overwhelming need to write another installment in the increasingly expansive “Letters To Kripke”.  And without further ado...

Okay, if you notice anything weird about this schedule, it's that a lot of those buzzed about pilots are being saved for Midseason.  Then there's Revolution, which goes from 10 pm to 8 pm on Wednesdays?  That show, the family hour???  It's so hopeless and violent!  That's um, well, oh heck, this is NBC.  Imaginations rule!

Community, which was renewed, is not on the schedule, which makes it a fill in utility player.  There's no word on Hannibal either.  I don't see the Chicago Fire Spinoff either.  For those comparing this to my fantasy schedule, I was very, very wrong.  Except I got Saturday and Sunday right.

Below is the schedule for fall and midseason:
